Send Slack / Teams Notifications

With Paragon, all it takes to build a Slack or Teams notification feature is with a simple workflow that is triggered by an event in your application, and then sends a message to your customers’ messaging platform.

Triggering the Notification

These messaging/notification workflows can be triggered via a Request trigger (via a POST endpoint) or an App Event trigger (sent via the SDK).

In the case that you already have a webhook API and webhooks for the events you want to trigger notifications from, you can trigger the workflow with your existing webhook using the Custom Webhooks feature.

End-user Configurability

The Connect Portal (Paragon’s pre-built, embeddable UI) not only handles your users’ third-party authentication flow, but also enables you to provide a level of configurability to each of your users.

In the case of Slack/Teams notification features, a common use case is to surface your users’ Slack or Teams channels so they can select where they want the notifications to go.

This is an example of the Connect Portal embedded in a sample AI chatbot application that we built called Parato.

In terms of implementation, you’d pass those user settings dynamically into your workflow logic, which enables the workflow to support all of your different customers’ unique preferences.

Another useful configuration is the ability to use either your app’s credentials or your users’ credentials in a Paragon workflow. This allows your application to send a message either as an application bot or as the user.

Here’s an example of one of our customers, tl;dv, that sends their users meeting summaries in Slack via a tl;dv Slackbot after a meeting ends.
